AMCNO PALS Networking Event Paired Medical Students with Physician Members

The Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO) hosted its annual PALS (Physicians Are Linked with Students) networking event last week at the CWRU School of Medicine. Second- and third-year medical students were invited to take part in this invaluable program.

Using the speed dating format, physicians and a few of the students sat at random tables throughout the room and talked about the physician’s specialty for a few minutes. An alarm sounded and the students had to move to the next physician table to talk with him or her for a few minutes, and so on.

The physicians who attended the event represented various fields of medicine: anesthesiology, gastroenterology, cardiology, gynecology, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, family medicine, and orthopedic surgery.

All of the students and physicians who participated in the program said that they enjoyed it. Many students said that even in such a short time, they felt that they had developed a relationship with the physicians. The physicians enjoy taking part in PALS because they like meeting with the students and helping provide guidance in their academic paths.

Our thanks to everyone who attended this fun event! If you would be interested in participating next year, contact Tara Camera at the AMCNO offices at (216) 520-1000, ext. 102, or tcamera@amcno.org
