The AMCNO will celebrate its bicentennial year in April 2024. First known as the 19th Medical District, AMCNO is one of the oldest medical societies in the United States and the oldest professional association in Ohio. We will mark this incredible milestone year with several events in the community including the following: 

Culminating Gala Event: May 4, 6 - 9:00 pm. The 200th Year Gala will be held at the Cleveland History Center in University Circle. The gala will raise funds for the Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF), which awards scholarships to area medical studentsLearn more and Purchase Tickets!

MedWish Community Service Event: April 11, 6 - 8:00 pm. Service is an important part of the AMCNO’s legacy. We plan to host a service event with our membership to commemorate the 200th anniversary at MedWish International. Learn more and Register Today!

Lower Lecture: May 3, 7:00 am.The Lower Lecture series, organized and funded by past president Dr. William Lower, began in 1938. This series brought in medical experts from across the country and around the world to educate Cleveland’s medical community on biomedical innovations and milestones. On May 3rd, President and CEO of American Association for Physician Leadership Dr. Peter Angood will keynote a historic Lower Lecture for the AMCNO and the Cleveland Clinic. The Lower Lecture is based on a tradition started in 1938 by former AMCNO president and Cleveland Clinic founder, William E. Lower, MD. Dr. Lower invited international and national medical experts to Cleveland to speak about groundbreaking medical topics like advances in the study of viruses and surgical shock. Learn more and Register Today!

Historical Exhibition: The Western Reserve Historical Society will debut an AMCNO exhibit on 200 years of Cleveland Medical History featuring historical artifacts, photographs, and film. Members of the public can view this exhibit throughout the summer, and gala attendees will be able to visit it during the event.
