ODM Shares Managed Care News

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) recently announced updates concerning this year's managed care annual open enrollment and the seven managed care organizations (MCOs) that were selected for the next generation managed care program.

Open Enrollment

ODM defined the difference between the 2021 annual open enrollment and 2022 member transition enrollment, by stating the 2021 open enrollment is the traditional period when managed care members are able to explore the managed care plans available through ODM. Alternatively, the 2022 member transition enrollment is the transition to the new managed care plans that are part of the next generation of Ohio Medicaid's managed care program. In the spring, all managed care members will have the opportunity to review and compare the new and continuing plans available in order to choose the plan that is the best fit for them. Additional details and information will be communicated to members in the coming months about the process and timeline for 2022 member transition enrollment.

The plans available during the 2021 annual open enrollment are:

  • Buckeye Health Plan
  • CareSource
  • Molina Health Care
  • Paramount Advantage
  • United Health Care Community Plan

Managed care members with questions about the 2021 annual open enrollment should be directed to the Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline website for additional information. They can also call the Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline at 800-324-8680. Representatives are available from 7 am - 8 pm Monday through Friday, and 8 am - 5 pm Saturday. They can provide interpreters and explain the annual open enrollment process. The Ohio Medicaid Consumer Hotline will also be conducting outreach to inform all Medicaid managed care members of their choices for open enrollment. Please note: Ohio Medicaid managed care members do not have to do anything if they would like to keep their current Medicaid managed care plan.
